    where would you categorize neurosis?

Thats a really good question. Neurosis are a hard band to put into a genre or to categorize. Their first album Pain of Mind is punk. Their other albums range from industrial sounding to folkish/ambient and sludge. Most people say that they are post metal. Some bands start out playing a certain style and continue to stick to that genre their whole career, while other bands switch it up on other releases. This can make it hard to classify a band sometimes. Bands like Carcass and Napalm Death have changed their style. Napalm Death’s first two albums were grindcore, while later ones were just plain death metal. Carcass first two cds were grindcore, while their album Heartwork was more melodic sounding death metal.
